About our Principal

                                                                        Mr. Salazar

I graduated from College of Lake County with an Associates in Arts. Following that, I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College. After a stint in the plumber's union, I graduated from Roosevelt University with a Master of Arts in Secondary Education. I taught entrepreneurship at a high school in Zion and Project Lead the Way at Neal Math and Science Academy in North Chicago. Upon completing my Master of Arts in Educational Leadership at Northeastern Illinois University, I worked as assistant principal at Melrose Park Elementary School for two years. I then joined the Oakdale team as assistant principal, where I spent three years as the assistant principal. I love coming to school and seeing our students every day, and I make it my number one priority to have students feel safe, welcomed, and included.

I grew up in and have lived in Mundelein my whole life. My wife Jennifer and I have been married for 9 years, and we have three beautiful girls (Halee, 26; Hannah, 22; Hope, 18), and two granddaughters, Giavanna and Joanne. When I am not at school, I enjoy construction projects, reading, and spending time with my family.

With Hawk Pride,

Jose Salazar

Principal
